I'm 50-50 on this one. There's always the possibility of corruption with a model like this - you'd need to screen the members pretty carefully to ensure that they're actually Christians, not hypocrites pretending to be (as often make up a reasonable percentage of Western church congregations). In times of total anarchy and chaos, it might just work, but there would have to be a LOT of prayer invested into a project like this one to ensure that it's of the Lord and will remain in His will, not wander off in pursuit of someone else's dream.
*Sigh* At least it would seem like we're actively DOING something for our faith.
Well, true, but that goes for everything. I don't trust people much....
Maybe there's a lot of people you can't trust, but at least you can trust God. Aren't you glad about that? And so it stands to reason that if a program is run by God instead of by men it would work. (As for me, I'm going to stick with the home teaching and visiting teaching programs in my church... they provide friends, support, and protection for everyone in my church family.)
(Sorry; my overabundance of optimism is shining through again. As is my inability of looking at life without the perspective of how things work in relation to God's work. Yeah.)
I'm done.

VERY true.
