Batman and his "Grapple Gun"

Wait wait wait!

I noticed something the last time I watched the movie I'd never noticed before. Fox calls it a "magnetic" grapple gun.

It's magnetic?

Oh no. And here I've been seriously toying with that idea for The Warrior. Lately I've been developing it even more, but it's existed for ages. My old vigs have him swinging around....

Why is it every idea I come up with is shadowed somewhere else? *sigh* Well, I guess, in the world of superheroes, every thing has pretty much already been done.

There's so much creative work out there nowadays that it's almost impossible to be completely original. It sucks, but on the plus side, we're all in the same boat.

That's why my novel-writing focus has shifted from my epic fantasies to my contemporary dramas. They're smaller, but I haven't come across anything like them before, so I'm gonna try to ride originality all the way to store shelves.

On an off topic subject, have you ever read Black Hawk Down, by Mark Bowden?

*sympathies* I'm sorry. I was deep, deep into writing a book when I realized the basic structure my culture was wrapped around had already been done. With the same terms and everything. *facepalm* I finished the book anyway but I don't think I'm going to publish it. (It needs a llloooooooooooot of work anyway and the friend I wrote it with doesn't want to put the effort into it to help edit.) I still enjoy reading it myself, though, if that helps. :)

Nate/Alyssa: Yeah, it really is annoying. To tell you the truth, separate from The Warrior I've had this idea for a good 8, 9, maybe even ten years. NOOOO!!!!

Stephen: No, but I almost bought it once. I own The Battle of Mogadishu: Firsthand Accounts from the Men of Task Force Ranger, by Matt Eversmann, Dan Schilling (eds), as well as In The Company of Heroes by Michael J. Durant. Haven't had the chance to read either, but I've skimmed Durant's book. Very readable, and he's even funny at times. I want to get to reading it sooo bad.

You know, I also did have an idea (one day might use it) similar to the League of Shadows. Just wanna claim that in public. ;-D

I'll have to check out the books you mentioned....Black Hawk Down is awesome! ....other than the usual language problem our servicemen seem to have. :(
