Miley Cyrus caught between two worlds

What the...?

I have to admit, I was shocked when I saw the picture. I mean, I'm more than used to seeing photos that are a good deal worse than this one was, but...Hannah Montana? I guess I was more thinking of the innocent young girl image. Scrap that.

So this is where the country's going.... And apparently she's only fifteen years old....

I never thought I would live to see the day when you blogged about Hannah Montana...*facepalm* You can't get away from her!!! I'm sick of her.

But in her defense, I really don't see what is so dreadful about the picture. Yes, it's racy, but what about the clothes that she wears? If she had a halter top on, or a strapless dress at the Teen Choice awards, no one would be complaining. On the other hand, the very fact that Annie I-Take-Provocative-Photos Leibovitz was the photographer should have raised a few red flags somewhere. (she was the one Queen Elizabeth got mad at, and IIRC she was also the photographer for Demi Moore's little "stunt"...*coughcough*) Surely someone had to suspect that she just wasn't going to ask Miley to say cheese?

I agree with Lauren, that there was PLENTY of warning for her parents and advisers along the way. Erm, "Here, take off your shirt and hold this sheet to your chest!" would have been a Good Clue.

I see what's dreadful about the picture, but I see how she was talked into it. Assuming she's innocent and was conned into it, she looks at it and just sees herself in sorta an unusual pose showing off a nice back. Now, when a boy or man sees it... That's why I don't understand why on earth her dad didn't step in, since he was on set. dofodsifhosdijfso

As much as I hate to say it (because I have a little soft spot in my heart for H.M., I don't know why--she can't sing and she's pretty annoying) I think she's going to be the next Brittany Spears. Brittany was idealized by teenage girls for a long time.

I agree about the clothes issue, Lauren. Mostly I meant that I thought it awful that someone with the reputation of innocence would do something so clearly beyond the the line of what a young girl, or any girl for that matter, should do.

Alyssa, I think you may be right. Britney had her start the same way; innocent little pop culture icon for young girls.

Sigh. And look what happened to her. Oops, it happened again.
